Description of Volunteer Opportunities at Willow Bend School Assemblies: Help coordinate fun, educational assemblies for the school. Bilingual Liaison: Help with communication between PTA and non-English speaking families. Birthday Books: Shop for and maintain a selection of books that all students are able to choose for birthday. Book Fair: Help sell or set up for the school book fair held twice a year. Environmental Education: Plan programs so students learn how their actions impact the environment. Family Picnic: Help at this fun September event by organizing, setting up, serving food, or cleaning up. Family Programs: Help at activities at school for students and their families. Events are either before school or in the evening, such as Dads and Donuts and Moms and Munchies Health and Safety: Help on hearing and vision testing days, volunteer to help with district blood drive, help organize district coat closet or set up babysitting class with Red Cross. Holiday Gift Shop: Help students shop for holiday gifts for their families in early December. Chairperson needed to organize. Help needed for selling and wrapping. Hospitality: Coordinate refreshments for school events during the year. Bake or assist in serving. Market Day: Help set up and fill orders for pick up for this ongoing program that occurs once a month on Tuesdays. Start about 2:00 and finish about 4:00. Membership: Help sign up new PTA members at PTA activities. Organize activities to encourage PTA membership. Newcomer Liaison: Send packets of information to families new to Willow Bend and be available to answer their questions. Reflections: Help with this state PTA sponsored fine arts competition. Help is needed to organize, set up judging, and send chosen entries to the district event. Room Representative: Plan classroom parties for Halloween and Valentine’s Day. Make phone calls if school experiences a closing. School Pictures: Assist teachers on school picture day by helping to keep students organized. Student Recognition: Gather small items that the teachers use for rewarding students. Teacher Appreciation: Help create a special week for our teachers in the spring by planning events, preparing food and serving. Ways and Means: Coordinate PTA fundraisers necessary to fund PTA programs and events, such as Innisbrook Gift Wrap sale and Manna Gift Cards program. Volunteer Coordinators: Contact volunteers for special events and tabulate volunteer hours.
